Great Wolf Lodge

We told the kids they could have their birthdays at Great Wolf Lodge ( last year ). We FINALLY got to go. The kids had been so patient. Brooks got to bring two friends and Bailey got to bring one. From the time we got to the lodge we hardly saw the boys. They were off and on the go the whole time! We got checked in to our room, changed clothes and headed straight to the pool area. Blake and I hung out with Bailey and her bestie, Audrey While the boys were off on their own. We swam till almost closing then changed and headed up to get Brooks and Bailey their wands for the game around the hotel called, Magic Quest. Again didn't see the boys for a while! Blake later took the boys down to the arcade and i took the girls down to the front lobby for some dancing to music time! They looked so cute in their matching nite gowns. Met up with boys in Arcade, played some games and then headed back to lobby for the hula hoop contest. The girls did great. Bailey came in second during one round. Good Job, Bailey Quin! About midnight we called it a night and then the crying started.... Bailey's friend Audrey started crying and wanted her mommy. Got her calmed down and she passed out. Awoke again with her crying at 2:30. Couldn't calm her down so her Dad came and picked her up. By morning i was alittle tired and warn out!! Back to swimming we go!!! Had a fantastic time! Blake was in line for a slide and was up really high, looked down to see a strange man taking a drink off our table and drinking it. Then he continued to take one of our pretzels and cheese and eat it. Blake told one of the life guards and took off down the stairs to confront the man. When he got to the guy he asked him what he thought he was doing eating and drinking OUR food?!?! The man got up in Blakes face and Blake warned him to back off, several times and he didn't so Blake gave the guy a warning punch in this chin. He backed up and then security came. In the meantime i had no idea any of this was going on. I showed up and was approached by the mans girlfriend and she was opologizing to me. Then Brooks showed up and told me that Daddy got in a fight and hauled off and punched a guy in the face!!!! Blake showed up and explained everything. Leave it to a almost 9 year old boy to think his dad " hauled off and punched a guy "!!!! love it! The security guys made the guy and his girlfriend get dressed and they were escorted out. After that our fun continued and ended the afternoon with playing alittle Magic Quest. There is one picture that i am posting of a little boy that is in yellow swim trunks climbing the stairs up to the slides. He doesn't have the lower part of his legs and one arm and hand are turned in. I was so proud of our kids when they were climbing the same stairs and of course were checking him out but when they got to the top Brooks looked over and said to the kid, " hey, lets race !! " The kids all played together and had a great time and after we left Brooks kept talking about how he couldn't stop thinking of that boy and that he was so impressed with how he was not like the other kids but had a smile on his face and that he was amazed that he acted like there was nothing wrong with him and he was having such a great time! Brooks continued to talk about that little boy for days! It was such a good eye opener for our kids and that it was a good lesson for them to remember that they need to remember that kid when they are complaining about how rough they have it!! p.s. i don't have alot of pics of Brooks because i barely saw him!!

These are the beautiful sunrises i get to experience on my long drive home after getting off my 12 hour shifts.Even after working my butt off at work and im physically and mentally exhausted these always make me happy.

long awaited Christmas in Hays

It took us a while to find a weekend that we didn't have anything scheduled and Nana and Poppy didn't have anything scheduled. We took a trip to Hays to have our Christmas with them. We always have a good time in Hays. Went out for Mexican food, opened gifts, had a great homemade meal from Nan. Took our usual trip to Sturnberg Museum. Nanna and Poppy were excited to show us their new backyard and their new addition to the backyard. WOW, what a change! Beautiful! When opening gifts Brooks got a switch blade comb. We all got a kick out of it! Brooks also got a huge Halo Mega Block Tank. He was so excited about it that he ran over and gave Poppy a HUGE hug and told him Thank YOU!! Bailey got a gymnastic Dora doll and she got so excited that she ran over and hugged Nana. Bailey is funny when she opens gifts now, she keeps her eyes closed until she is finished unwrapping her gift! Both kids got cash which is always a hit! Bailey got some new make-up. She was so excited about it that she put some on and took the whole make-up purse with her everywhere, even with her to the museum! I think the kids favorite part of going to Hays is taking a bath in their soaker tub and doing their bedtime routine with Nana! Thanks Nana and Poppy for having us out and making our trip great!

friends and guns

Brooks had a friend out to spend the night and ended up staying the whole weekend. We took the kids out to shoot again at our land. Matt hadn't shot a gun before. I had the kids decorate their own boxes with targets on them for them to shoot at. They thought that was pretty fun. Bailey's was the most colorful, go figure!! The kids did a great job hitting their targets along with others. After a while of shooting we were getting ready to leave and drove thru the creek bed and noticed ice. We all got out and decided to test it before walking out onto it. It was pretty shallow so it was solid ice. We all went out and did a little ice skating and Daddy found a branch to out Bailey on and bounce it up and down. All the kids got a huge kick out of it! We were there probably an xtra hour just playing on the ice! Great time and making great memories!

Meatloaf helper...

I was getting stuff out to mix together to make meatloaf for dinner. Bailey came into the kitchen and asked if she could help. i said, "sure." She helped crack the eggs and poor the bread crumbs in the mix. I then told her she needed to mix it all together but with her hands. She kinda laughed and looked at me funny. I said," seriously, put your hands in it and mix it all up" She did just that. She did such a great job but not without making some of her famous faces!!

Bailey and her Snowman

About the second day we were in our new house it snowed. Bailey asked if i would go out with her to make a snowman. The first thing she said was," mom, it is perfect packing snow!! " We made a very small snowman but Bailey did a great job!!! A woman drove up and parked and got out with a camera and asked if she could take a pic of Bailey and her snowman. She was from the local paper. Bailey was very excited about the whole thing!! She was very proud of her snowman that she had made! The lady wanted me to get in the pic as well and i said, " heck no, Im still in my P.j. pants !! "

Being silly.....

Bailey and I were being silly and decided to catch some of it on film! Clark joined in as well, probably not by choice!!
